Spacing between decking boards Is 2mm enough spacing between 90mm decking boards? I started off with 2.8mm, but have reduced it down over a few coarses so I can fit a whole board in at the end rather than having to rip one.

Getting the spacing right with deck boards. A better option is to remove the floor and subfloor from the bedrooms, spray foam down over the garage ceiling, then replace the floor. Re: spacing for cedar deck boards i have never noticed a difference between rdwd and cedar as for spacing .it was moisture in the boards that was tricky . probable depends on location but a 16p was to small ,I used a 20P for years but seem to be getting bigger lately . a larger spacing[16p vrs 20p] helps to hide the varitions in spacing width as you lay your boards .drains a little better .
The spacing allows the boards to easily and quickly shed water. Water that pools on decks will eventually cause the boards to rot. The spaces or gaps between the floor boards on the deck, also allows the deck boards to dry quicker as air can circulate around them.
